New website for the EPFL Essential Tech Centre

The EssentialTech Centre team harnesses science and technology to promote sustainable development, support humanitarian action, and foster peace.
In collaboration with EPFL’s cutting-edge laboratories, they design solutions tailored to vulnerable contexts.
To support this mission, the team needed a modern, clear, and well-structured website that could reflect the diversity of their projects and showcase the impact of their work.
Content structuring
One of the main challenges of this redesign was to organize a wide variety of content, while ensuring a clear emphasis on the impact of the Centre.
The objective was to facilitate navigation and understanding for audiences with very diverse profiles: students, partners or donors.
To meet this challenge and design a high-quality, well-structured website, we first defined personas in order to better understand their expectations. Based on this, we designed a clear and consistent sitemap, offering an overview of the site and ensuring that each target can find relevant information there.
Modernizing the image of the Centre
We opted for a clean and sober design, designed to highlight the visuals of projects that concretely embody the impact of the EssentialTech Centre.
The color eggplant, applied with subtlety, brings a touch of sophistication while allowing the Centre to distinguish itself visually from other EPFL entities.
In addition, the toothed wheel — an emblematic symbol of the Centre — has been integrated into the background of certain sections, reinforcing the graphic identity and visual coherence of the website.
